The "if..then I will be happy" syndrome

We feel sad sometimes for one reason or another or because life is not responding to our dreams and what we want. We think of the future and we hope there would be a moment of relief, of happiness and true joy.

We ask ourselves if we would feel truly happy one day and we look into some distant future where our wishes would materialize and with them happiness and fulfillment.

The truth is that the only moment we truly own, we truly guarantee and we truly know we would ever live is the one we have now.  The past no longer exists, the future does not exist yet and the only real existence is the current moment we are living. So why waste it in sadness and hoping when we can make it full, happy and joyful now?

You are asking how?

I believe we can do this through the wonderful gift of acceptance.

Acceptance is a great gift to find ourselves and our inner joy within this moment. Acceptance is a powerful tool. It is a triumph over self pity and weakness to accept your life as it is in this moment, to look closely at all the good things in it, to accept that what is done is done and what is gone is gone and that the past only lives in your memories but no longer truly exist in your real current life, the past only has power if you allow it and all sorrow, guilt and regrets come from the past, not from now and not from the future.

Acceptance is the way of saints as it is the way of those who understand that whatever is now is, and nothing can be other than what is now; therefore, one has to accept it and live it the best way one can.

Acceptance can make us instantly lighter and happier. Though it might feel hard in the beginning as we always try to change the moment, but in the heart of the intention to change is a resentment and a rejection of the current moment. Our lives become a series of  resentments and rejections of our current moments. If we keep thinking our now(s) are not good enough, then we will live a life of constant strive and sorrow.

That does not mean one should not work on being a better person or to create a better life, but if we start this with a sense of acceptance and joy within the current moment then it will bring that sense of a greater future to the moment we are living now. what could be a better way to bring a positive energy to our lives that can propel us to a better place in our future.

Acceptance is a powerful way to live and to have a better life. It is to thank God and to attract the positive  from within the universe. From appreciation and thankfulness, one can find joy and happiness.

Live in a happy now; live in this very moment, do not wait for a distant future, for a change, for a wish to come true that will make you happy. If you examine your life now, you will find so many things that worth appreciating.

Take this moment in, accept it, and make it a happy moment through your joyful and thankful acceptance.
